Leaving Tokyo for the weekend. Having a short weekend stop in Seoul Korea. The flight time from Tokyo to Seoul is 2 hours, making it a good destination for a short get away. I am taking ANA from Tokyo Haneda airport to Seoul Gimpo airport. From the airport to the hotel that I have booked in the Gangnam area. Welcome to Seoul Korea!
Checking in at Haneda airport at the ANA counter. The service is as every place in Japan excellent.
Arriving at Gimpo, welcome to Seoul Korea. From the airport I first checked the possibilities to take a bus in to the city, not easy to figure out. I ended up taking a taxi to the city, my best choice would have been taking the train.
I have booked the Korean suite at Hotel Grammos. The hotel is located in Gangnam and the area around the hotel is mainly office buildings, not too exciting. A 7-eleven and a Starbucks is the most exciting thing around here. Luckily it is just a few minutes walk to the nearest station.
The size of the suite was decent and a open bathroom and bath solution was different.
Seoul streets, too much traffic I think.
Korea! Tried to book a trip visit the border (DMZ) between the north and south, however it is not open to the public on Mondays.
Out walking around in Seoul, rainy and low temperatures this weekend.
This guy could not be more happy. Good to see him since there was far between the happy faces here.
Gyeongbokgung palace in Seoul. You will find Gyeongbokgung in the center of downtown Seoul and is easy to get to. The closest subway station is Gyeongbokgung Station on line 3 (as long as you get to understand the not so easy subway system).
Find the streets and areas for shopping and walking, if not you will be wandering around without finding too much interesting to see.
Having a Saturday walk in Korea.
New style and concept at Mc Donalds, create your own taste and the burger is served at the table. Maybe this is what will save Mc Donalds profit.
Gangnam style Audi R8, nice one.
Shopping in Gangnam.
Real life mannequins on display, every 5 minutes they would turn around to much excitement from the crowd.
What ever your weekend goal is it can be easily done here in Seoul. Several private hospitals and clinics offering plastic surgery, fast and affordable.
All over the city you will meet newly operated women walking around with stitches and bandages. Improve your looks with one day surgery and good payment plans.
The police were out with all their riot forces controlling a demonstration that supposedly demanded the resignation of the prime minister. Not the best welcome to Seoul Korea.
Teddy bear shopping at Line store.
And he has even got his own room here.
This one might be over the weight limit on the flight back.
The protest and demonstration drags on late tonight, the police are preparing for a violent night.
Team 21 relaxing on their shields, playing games on their smartphones waiting for a signal to take action.
Seoul is a shopping Mekka. There is several 24h shopping centers.
First some Korean tea before doing some late night shopping.
Even at 1 am the stores is packed with people out looking for a bargain.
Most shops do wholesale in this area and your price will vary on how many items of each you are buying.
With 24h sales a rest is needed.
Take your time here and be well rested before entering these large department stores.
Bags packed during the night ready to ship to stores across Korea and in Seoul.
All the 24h shopping centers are located in the same area and to find the next one you just have to cross the street.
Whatever you want and how ever many you need.
An alternative garden outside Dongdaemun Design Plaza.
Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul. This is the area you will find several shopping centre.
Taking the subway is a easy way to get around Seoul, however I do not find it easy to figure out the different lines and stops.
Cool guys take public transport!
