Is Seoul a realistic short trip?
Seoul is roughly 11–13 hours of flying from Europe (about 11 hours from Germany and about 12 hours 40 minutes from London on average), so it will never be a two-night city break. It can work as a micro-vacation of four or five days if you accept that the flights take a large share of your time away. What to see in Seoul
Palaces and old Seoul. Gyeongbokgung is the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty. Nearby, Bukchon Hanok Village is a neighbourhood of traditional Korean houses (hanok), and Ikseon-dong is described as the oldest hanok village.
Food at Gwangjang Market. This traditional market is known for stalls selling mung bean pancakes, tteokbokki, glass noodles and knife-cut noodles (kalguksu).
Seongsu-dong. A former industrial area that is now known for indie cafés, contemporary art galleries and vintage shops.
Views and walks. N Seoul Tower (236 m) sits on top of Namsan and has an observation deck with panoramic views of the city. The Seoul City Wall (Hanyangdoseong) stretches around an 18.6 km loop through the historic core; the Bugaksan section is about 2.3 km. Bukhansan National Park is partly within Seoul and attracts around 5 million hikers a year.
Markets and baths. Namdaemun is Seoul's largest traditional market and dates back to the 15th century. A jjimjilbang is a Korean bathhouse and sauna complex where visitors bathe, nap and spend hours, sometimes overnight.
