The last days in Kiev, more exploring on the agenda, good food and a club later. A visit to the Yanukovych residence is also on the agenda and of course eat some delicious Ukrainian borsch. Today the temperature is over 30 degrees celsius in the shadows, what a nice day for weekend fun in Kiev. Staying in a suite at the Hotel Ukraine is a perfect way to start the day here. Wow, the hotel serves melted water for breakfast, that is a first, or is it? Just add some frozen water to cool it down. Local bus in the city, low cost if you can figure out where it is going. From the local supermarket, I was not sure about which I would like to prepare for dinner here. Outside beautiful St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery. A new day here in Kiev. There is so much to see around the city and many monuments to visit.Ukraine have a rich history that can be remembered and learned about by visiting monuments in Kiev. Luckily I have brought some good shoes as this time like always it is a lot of walking. First stop for the day is The Monument of Eternal Glory at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier. As a smart Ukrainian told me: Remember, do not forget. From this monument it is only a short walk to Monument to the millions of victims of the Great Famine that lasted from 1932-1933 A local Ukrainian reading the news. Returning to beautiful Kiev Ukraine for the weekend. This time I will travel with KLM airlines. Due to the situation in Ukraine there is no direct flight from Norway. Departing from Kristiansand (KRS) to Amsterdam (AMS) and then to Kiev (KBP). I have booked a suite at the Hotel Ukraine, located in the heart of Kiev. Having a weekend stop in Kiev is not too common, however it is highly recommended. Value for money is good when going there as a visitor and the people are hospitable. This weekend my stop is Harstad and Sortland in norhtern Norway. Travelling north to visit my family and new nephew. First leg of the journey is from Kristiansand KRS to Oslo Gardermoen OSL, changing flight there and Evenes EVE is my final destination. Norwegian ariline will take me there for a reasonable price. I will spend one day in Harstad before taking Hurtigruten from Harstad to Sortland where my sister and her family lives. Here is the photos for your inspiration. Norwegian airlines from Kristiansand to Evenes After watching too many episodes of air crash investigation I always prefer to sit next to the wings of the aircraft. If it is a better chance to survive a unexpected situation I do not really know.
