Nature and summer in Lofoten Norway
Taking a weekend in northern Norway, visiting my family again and doing some tourist things here in Norway. The forecast is sunshine all weekend, that is not a common thing in the north. Short sleeves is packed and I am ready to fly from where I live in the south up to the north. Here is my weekend.
Departing from Kristiansand (KRS) airport. First stop is Oslo and from there it is 1 hour and 30 minutes to Evenes (EVE).
Approaching the airport, the landscape changes dramatically, this is Norway!
Crossing the brigde from the mainland to Hinnøya island where Harstad city is located.
Arriving in the North a visit to my grandma is important, nothing says welcome home like waffles with strawberries from the garden.
Being a real tourist this weekend I take a helicopter ride to see my hometown from the sky.
Regatta in Harstad.
From Harstad there is a few hours drive to Lofoten. Here I am arriving in Henningsvær for RIB safari. There is many adventures to undertake here, check this page.
Art gallery in Henningsvær.
Warm clothes and safety gear is provided before entering the rib.
Clear Norwegian water.
Henningsær is also a paradise for mountain climbers.
Feeding the Sea Egle from the RIB, so great to watch it catch the fish.
Houses in Henningsvær.
Hurtigruten under the brigde in Sortland. This is the oldest vessel, Lofoten.
Arriving at my sisters farm, staying here for the night.
I am not a golfer, however a chance to practice my swing under the midnight sun is something I could not turn down. This photo is taken 11 pm.
Beautiful northern Norway and the midnight sun.
Today there is an other hurtigruten ship passing Sortland.
Outside Sortland I got the chance to learn more about Sami and the Sami culture.
And to meet some reindeer.
Back to the cows at the farm.
Back to the south again after seeing beautiful nature and experience a warm summer weekend in Harstad and Lofoten.
